Olmec's Temple is played from a first-person perspective and urges the player to explore ancient ruins deep within the dense jungle. Lacking a combat system, this game provides an entertaining experience to the player through indirect storytelling, exploration, and via Quick Time Events. The player must reach the bottom of the building's chambers while overcoming on-rails sequences. During these moments, the player must press the appropriate command associated with the on-screen prompt and will then be shown the appropriate outcome. Every sequence in the game has three possible endings dependent on player health and actions. Should the player pass the event, their character comes out unscathed. If they fail, they are treated to one sequence that harms their avatar if they have health remaining or results in a game over sequence if not. As the player nears the goal, the window to press the button shrinks while the events become more often or complex. With the scaling difficulty and number of optional paths, the one level provides a large amount of replay value over the existing content.
